Bill grew up in Stowe, VT. After graduating from UVM, he served as Director of Music in the Randolph Union School District 1973-’76. 


Bill became a Golf Professional in 1976. Along with a one-year stint as a PGA Tour member, Bill became the 72nd professional to achieve PGA “Master Professional” status. He served as a Head Professional at Radnor Valley CC, in Philadelphia; LaGrange CC, in Chicago and 16 years at Atlanta CC, hosting the PGA Tour’s “BellSouth Atlanta Classic”. 


Bill & his wife, Kathie, also formed Johnstone Enterprises, Inc.. They create signature golf events and partner with resorts, clubs, golf companies and the golf community on golf events and projects.


Projects include opening and managing Atlanta branches of “Hot Stix” and “Club Champion”, two national brand custom golf club fitting studios.


For three years, they directed events and consulted at the Casa de Campo resort in the Dominican Republic. Bill & Kathie created, own and direct the International Husband & Wife Golf Championship (


The 35th annual Championship will be held this winter in Jamaica. On Oct 1st, Bill & Kathie started a new life adventure as the Executive Directors of the Southern Seniors Golf Association …and the band plays on…!


Bill & Kathie have a married daughter, Jessica, and 2 grandsons living in Atlanta.


Their son, Scott, just got married and lives in Philadelphia.


Bill sold his Hammond B-3 as a collectors item in 1998 and still misses it!
